Electric brushes have been in our bath rooms for more than 60 years now. They have out ran manual brushing on efficiency and hygiene by a long spread. The Broxodent was the one the first successful electric brushes back in 1954 by a doctor called Dr. Philippe-Guy Woog in Switzerland it was very compact and practical even by today’s standard, the Broxodent suffered technological challenges during its operations and no longer as popular. By the end of the eighties David Giuliani, Drs. David Engel and Roy Martin started GEMTech (changed its name to Optiva Corporation later acquired by Philips Philips Oral Healthcare, Inc.) that used piezoelectric multimorph transducer in their electric tooth brushes, by the end of 2001 they were the number one selling electric tooth brushes in north America.
